Courgette is a summer squash that often reaches a meter in length, but is usually harvested at half that size or less. It is a hybrid of the cucumber. Like other types of squash, it belongs to the species Cucurbita pepo. Zucchini can be dark or light green. A similar hybrid, the golden zucchini, is bright yellow or orange.
